Dewkind Skincare Guide

Dewkind Skincare Guide

A gentle introduction to Korean skincare for sensitive and acne-prone skin.

How to Identify Your Skin Type

Understanding your skin is the first step to building a routine that works.

  • Normal — balanced, neither oily nor dry, minimal sensitivity
  • Dry — feels tight, may flake, craves moisture
  • Oily — shiny, prone to enlarged pores and breakouts
  • Combination — oily in the T-zone, drier on the cheeks
  • Sensitive — reacts easily to products, weather, or stress with redness, stinging, or itching

Tip: Wash your face with a gentle cleanser, wait 30 minutes without applying anything, then observe how your skin feels.

A Simple Morning Routine

  1. Gentle cleanser — try AESTURA ATOBARRIER365 Gentle pH-Balancing Foaming Cleanser or SOME BY MI Super Matcha Pore Clean Cleansing Gel
  2. Toner or hydrating mist — try VT PDRN Toner, Anua PDRN Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Capsule Mist, or Pre- & Probiotic Refreshing Jelly Mist
  3. Serum or treatment — try medicube PDRN Pink Glutathione Serum Mist
  4. Moisturizer — try Beauty of Joseon Dynasty Cream
  5. Sunscreen — sunscreen is an important final step in a morning skincare routine. Apply every morning, rain or shine.

A Simple Evening Routine

  1. Makeup or sunscreen remover (if needed)
  2. Gentle cleanser — same as morning
  3. Toner — same as morning
  4. Serum or treatment
  5. Moisturizer
  6. Mask (only when appropriate — see mask frequency below)

Correct Product Order

Apply products from thinnest to thickest consistency:

Cleanser → Toner/Mist → Serum → Moisturizer → Sunscreen (AM only)

This allows each layer to absorb properly without pilling or blocking lighter actives.

How to Introduce New Products Gradually

  • Add one new product at a time, waiting at least 1–2 weeks before introducing another
  • This makes it easy to identify what's causing a reaction if one occurs
  • Start with the basics first (cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen), then add serums or treatments
  • Browse our Build Your Routine collection for guidance

How to Patch-Test a Product

  1. Apply a small amount of the product to a discreet area — inside of the wrist or behind the ear works well
  2. Wait 24–48 hours
  3. If no reaction appears, introduce the product cautiously. A patch test cannot guarantee that irritation will not occur when the product is applied to the face.
  4. If a reaction occurs, do not use the product and consult a healthcare professional if needed

Sensitive-Skin Tips

  • Choose fragrance-free and minimal-ingredient formulas when possible
  • Avoid harsh exfoliants, alcohol-heavy toners, and strongly fragranced products
  • Introduce actives (like vitamin C or retinol) slowly and sparingly
  • Keep your routine short — 3 to 5 steps is often enough

Acne-Prone-Skin Tips

  • Cleansing thoroughly in the evening can help remove buildup that contributes to congestion
  • Look for moisturizers that hydrate without feeling heavy on the skin
  • Resist over-cleansing — stripping the skin can trigger more oil production
  • Spot treatments should be applied after toner and before moisturizer

When to Simplify or Stop a Routine

  • If your skin is reacting — redness, stinging, breakouts — strip back to the basics: cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen
  • Give your skin a few days to recover before reintroducing products one at a time
  • A simpler routine is almost always better than a complex one that isn't working
  • Seasonal changes may require adjusting how much moisture or treatment you use

Wear Sunscreen Every Day ☀️

Sunscreen is an important final step in a morning skincare routine. Apply it every morning as the last step before makeup — even on cloudy days or when you're mostly indoors.
